Community Development is
charged with ensuring the physical revitalization of targeted commercial and
industrial areas of the City. Community Development also provides for a sound
economic future for the City by retaining and attracting businesses to La Mirada.

The department's responsibilities
include:
- Business retention and attraction.
- Administration of La Mirada real
estate .
- Capital improvement programs as
they relate to redevelopment projects.

Affordable home-ownership programs.
- Facilitating the development of
under utilized and vacant property in ways which best serve the community.
- Home
improvement loan programs.
- Planning
and Building & Safety is responsible for processing zoning and land-use
applications, and assisting the business community, developers, and the general
public in understanding building construction and local land use issues.
