La Mirada Couple Recognized Milestone Anniversary
The La Mirada City Council recognized Residents Jack and Nancy Jenkins on their 65th wedding anniversary. For more than 60 years, Jack and Nancy have called La Mirada home. They raised three sons, now adults, in the community.
They met while attending UCLA and married in 1952 before Jack was drafted into the United States Army to serve in Korea. While serving, Jack worked in the Accounting Department in the Supply Depot at the front lines. Nancy was actively involved in education where she became the State of California PTA Legislative Advocate. This experience led to employment the Los Angeles County Office of Education as their Parent Education Consultant.
Jack and Nancy served as active volunteers with the La Mirada Arts Festival Village. They also enjoyed family camping vacations to Lake Havasu and other lakes where they boated and water-skied.
The City of La Mirada recognizes La Mirada residents on their milestone anniversaries and birthdays.
“We encourage everyone who is eligible to sign up for this special recognition,” says Community Services Director Lori Thompson. “It is a simple and meaningful way to celebrate our residents.”
To sign up for recognition, contact the La Mirada Activity Center at (562) 902-3160.
