La Mirada Unsyncables Recognized for Achievements
The La Mirada City Council recognized the La Mirada Unsyncables for its Athletic achievements while competing at local and national levels.
The Masters synchronized team has won multiple Masters titles at the state, national, and international levels. Members of the Unsyncables competed at the FINA World Masters Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Sue Nesbitt, Mary Lou Woods, Barbara Nesbitt, and Teresa Liccardo were medal winners in the Solo event. Wendy Dorfman, Kathy Chapman, Molly Baross, Sue Nesbitt, Mary Lou Woods, Jenny Herrington, Catherine McKay, Ymajahi Brooks, Teresa Liccardo, and Barbara Nesbitt were medal winners in the Duet competitions.
The Unsyncables received first place in the 35-49 and 50-64 Team Technical competitions and placed second in the 35-49 and 50-64 Team Free Competitions. The team also scored more points than any other team in the 2017 FINA World Masters Championships.
In October 2017, The Unsyncables placed third during the 2017 U.S. Masters Synchronized Swimming National Championships in Clermont, Florida. Over 200 athletes from 24 clubs from the United States, Canada, and Japan competed. Kathy Chapman and Wendy Dorman placed second in the 70-79 Duet event and Sue Nesbitt received a gold medal in the 60-69 solo event. The team also received gold medals in the 50-64 Combination and the 40-49 Team events.
