Library Bookmark Contest Winners Recognized

Post Date:11/29/2017 2:33 PM

The La Mirada City Council honored local students for their artistic talent and creativity at the November 28 meeting.  Each year, the La Mirada branch of the Los Angeles County Public Library holds a bookmark contest for children in kindergarten through twelfth grade.  The contest challenges parents, educators, and librarians to encourage children to read and nurtures the love of reading.

The theme of this year’s contest was “What’s Your Story?”.  The library received over 700 entries.  This year’s winners include: Carol Fei, a kindergartener from Eastwood Elementary School; Kailyn Lee, a fifth grader from Eastwood Elementary School; Jackson Wright, a seventh grader from Sage Oak Charter School; Millicent Morales, a eleventh grader from La Mirada High School.

The winning bookmarks are now available at the La Mirada Library.  La Mirada’s winning entries have advanced to the County Library contest and Grand Prize winners will be announced in February.
