Meals On Wheels Delivers More Than Meals This Holiday Season

Post Date:12/13/2017 2:54 PM

Meals on Wheels volunteers prepared earthquake kits to give to its clients this holiday season.  More than 100 backpacks were filled with food, a solar blanket, flashlight, water, and other essential items. Items were donated by the Meals on Wheels’ Board of Directors, private donors, businesses, and volunteers.

“We usually give our clients a holiday gift,” says Meals on Wheels President Debbie Garza.  “However, this year we decided to give them something that can be used in case of an emergency.”

Since 1975, Meals on Wheels La Mirada has been dedicated to helping the elderly and disabled by supplying them with nourishing food at a nominal cost during a period of need so that residents can remain self-sufficient in their own homes.

Meals are prepared by Lascari’s Restaurant and delivered by caring volunteers Monday through Friday.
