Visit Splash! and take part in World's Largest Swimming Lesson
Splash! will join other aquatic facilities around the world to break the record for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday, June 21. This free event will take place at 9 a.m. and is open to all ages. The City of La Mirada will participate in this event to help raise awareness to the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning and communicate the important message – “Swimming Lessons Save Lives.” Following the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, attendees age 13 and under will receive special deals on Buccaneer Bay fun.
According to the World Health Organization, drowning remains among the top five causes of unintended injury or death for children under 14 years of age. Research by the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine shows that drowning can be reduced by 88 percent if children participate in formal swimming lessons.
In the ongoing effort to promote water safety, Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center offers year-round swim lessons for all ages and ability levels with morning, evening, and weekend classes available.
