Mow Down Air Pollution

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is sponsoring a lawn mower exchange program to empower consumers to partner for cleaner air.

La Mirada residents can to turn in old gasoline-powered lawn mowers and purchase new Newton cordless rechargeable electric mowers for $100. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the mower is $399.

There will be lawn mower exchange events within AQMD’s four-county region in May and June. Interested residents need to pre-register either on-line or by telephone to pick their site and half-hour time slot. For details, including dates and locations use the following link: http://www.aqmd.gov.

There is a limit of one mower per person, per residence, and proof of residence is required.
