Celebrate the New Year at Splash! with a plunge down Buccaneer Bay's waterslides into the chilly pools below. The New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge will take place Jan. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The City held its annual Salute to Veterans event on Nov. 11 at the La Mirada Theatre. The event featured a patriotic presentation and included a speech by Army Veteran Norbie Lara of the Wounded Warrior Project.
The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards during the 24th Annual Ovation Awards ceremony on Nov. 3, including one for Best Season.
Help those in need this holiday season during La Mirada's annual Holiday Toy & Food Drive. Through Dec. 16, donations of new, unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items will be collected at all City facilities.

Representatives from the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) honored the City's business-friendly efforts at the Oct. 22 City Council meeting with a recognition plaque and certificate.
The City is updating the General Plan Housing Element. A workshop will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., for residents to learn about the Housing Element Update and provide input.
