
The City of La Mirada contracts with Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control for services related to the care, protection, and safety of animals.
Dog Licensing
A dog license is required at four months of age. Owner must present a current rabies vaccination certificate.
- All dogs must have a license. All dog licenses expire on June 30 regardless of the date of purchase. Licenses purchased after December are prorated.
- There is a $20 penality for licenses renewed after June 30.
- Fees:
Unaltered Dogs - $20
Spayed/Neutered - $10/$5 for seniors, 60 years or older.
Seeing Eye Dog - $5 - one time charge.- Tag Replacement
A duplicate tag can be obtained by mailing a check for $5 to: Animal Care Center, 11258 S. Garfield Ave., Downey, CA 90242, Attn: Duplicate License TagIn order to qualify for the spay/neutered discount, owner must present sterilization certificate if new dog or if the dog was neutered since last licensing .

Cat Licensing
The City offers voluntary cat licensing. This service is encouraged to enable the
return of lost cats to their owners. These licenses can be obtained at the locations
listed above.
