THE APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

SELECTION PROCEDURE
A completed City application form and supplemental questionnaire, if applicable, is required to be considered for any open position. Resumes are accepted along with the application form but will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application. Candidates are asked to fully describe any training, education, experience or skill relevant to the position being applied for. Candidates are expected to fully complete all sections of the application. Candidates will be screened based on the qualifications for the job as described. Applications evaluated as best matching the needs of the City will continue in the selection process. The selection process may include any or all of the following: a written or practical examination, an assessment center examination, a skills test, and oral interview(s). The selection process may be changed as deemed necessary. The provisions of any job flyer or job application do not constitute an expressed or implied contract. The provisions may be modified or revoked without notice.


CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

Applicants will be required as a prerequisite to employment to complete a supplemental questionnaire regarding criminal history, and to successfully pass a criminal background check in accordance with City policy, which may include live scan and other job-related criminal background investigation. The cost of the criminal background check will be paid by the City.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
Applicants will be required as a prerequisite to employment to successfully pass a physical exam, and drug test, and any other job-related physical examinations, the cost of which will be paid by the City.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
A qualified individual with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation to participate in the examination process should notify Personnel no later than four working days prior to the scheduled examination date.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
All hourly employees are employed "at will" throughout the term of their employment with the City. Therefore, the services of an hourly employee may be terminated or discharged at anytime without prior notice. All newly appointed or promoted full-time employees serve a one-year probationary period during which they are employed "at will." During this probationary period, the services of a full-time employee can be terminated or discharged at anytime without prior notice or cause, or right of appeal.
