On September 6, 1994, Christopher W. Sanders joined the U.S. Navy. He completed boot camp in November of 1994. Then he was stationed onboard the USS Independence (CV-62) in Yokosuka, Japan until 1998.

Upon leaving the USS Independence, he went to technical school for four months. Afterwards, Sanders reported to serveral locations like; the USS Essex where he served until August of 1999; then to Groton, Connecticut to the new London submarine base where he served until August 2002; then transferred to Bremerton, Washington onboard the USS Sacramento (AOE-1) until October 2004;.and then he transferred to the USS Tarawa, (LHA-1) in San Diego, California, where he completed a successful tour on onboard until February 2006.

Sanders is currently serving as part of the Comnavairpac in San Diego, California.
