The City of La Mirada provides District Attorney services directly to residents through a contract with the County of Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. La Mirada's Deputy District Attorney specializes in the Strategies Against Gang Environments (SAGE) program. The SAGE Deputy District Attorney is an added tool for the City to address crime in their community.
La Mirada's Deputy District Attorney's goal is to bring stakeholders such as probation, parole, schools, churches, code enforcement, regulatory agencies and community groups together to create solutions to crime. Using a target approach to crime suppression, the Deputy District Attorney assists Sheriff's deputies and probation officers in identifying problems, developing enforcement strategies, and preparing search warrants and crime reports. The District Attorney ensures that the courts and prosecuting attorneys are aware of the City’s position regarding specific cases.
The Deputy District Attorney assists in case tracking, restitution for both the City and civilian victims, various Code Enforcement cases, nuisance complaints for residents and businesses, works with La Mirada High School‘s Student Attendant Response Board (SARB) program, and 5th graders in the Project LEAD program.
