Background: The project will continue the City’s efforts to upgrade and improve the aging infrastructure.   The traffic signal improvements at these intersections will enhance pedestrian safety and visibility for motorists, and upgrade the existing signal components to meet modern public works standards.

Work

Upgrades include the installation of additional signal heads, increasing the 8-inch signal heads to 12-inch signal heads, upgrading pedestrian signal heads and push buttons, replacing high-pressure sodium overhead safety lights with energy efficient LED overhead safety lights, installing new safety light poles and/or new mast arm poles to support new signal heads or replace aging components, and replacing overhead street name signs with high visibility, reflective street name signs.  The upgrades will improve the safety and the efficiency of the intersections.

Project Area

Improvements include upgrades to the traffic signals located at the intersections of La Mirada Boulevard at Hutchins Drive, Tacuba Drive, University Drive, Foster Road, Civic Center Drive, Alicante Road, Excelsior Drive, Ocaso Avenue and Santa Gertrudes Avenue.
