Background:  A retaining wall with a six-foot high garden wall above was constructed by the resident located at the northeast corner of Rosecrans Avenue and La Mirada Boulevard. Coordination between the City and the resident has allowed for a landscape area at the back of the sidewalk.  The landscape improvements are desirable to soften the appearance of the high retaining wall.

Also included in this project are landscape improvements to the existing medians located at the intersection of Imperial Highway and La Mirada Boulevard.  Medians included in the project are located on Imperial Highway west of La Mirada Boulevard and the medians north and south of Imperial Highway on La Mirada Boulevard

The proposed improvements at Rosecrans Avenue and La Mirada Boulevard include a five-foot wide planting area at the back of sidewalk along the rear property line of the adjacent residential property.  The work includes a 30” high raised planter at the corner of the planting area, as well as irrigation and planting improvements.

The proposed improvements to the medians located at La Mirada Boulevard and Imperial highway include demolition of all median landscape, new irrigation and planting.  The median on Imperial Highway west of La Mirada Boulevard will include the removal of damaged median nose paving and the installation of cobble paving.  The work is included in the fiscal year 2015-2016 Capital Improvement Budget using City
