Community Development
Community Development facilitates
private investment within the City to ensure the future economic viability of
the La Mirada economy characterized by ample and diversified goods and services,
employment opportunities, and a strong tax base.
The department's responsibilities
include:
- Business retention and
attraction.
- Administration of La
Mirada real estate .
- Capital improvement programs
as they relate to redevelopment projects.

Affordable home-ownership programs.
- Facilitating the development
of under utilized and vacant property in ways which best serve the community.
- Home
improvement loan programs.
- Planning and
Building & Safety is responsible for processing zoning and land-use
applications, and assisting the business community, developers, and the general
public in understanding building construction and local land use issues.
