Since its creation in 1973, the primary goal of the La Mirada Redevelopment Agency was to facilitate public and private partnerships to promote investment within the City's Redevelopment areas. The Agency was highly successfully by improving many commercial centers, industrial properties, and neighborhoods. However, State actions killed Redevelopment Agencies effective February 1, 2012. California's best job creating tool is no longer available to eliminate blight, provide environmental clean up or build new housing and infrastructure.
