Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
The City of La Mirada contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement services. The department provides general law enforcement, traffic enforcement, crime investigation, and special services.
Specialized Sheriff's investigative units are available to assist with arson, robbery, forgery, fraud, sex offenses, child abuse and industrial crime. Further, the Sheriff's helicopter patrol provides critical support services for ground units during emergency situations. The City and Sheriff's Department work closely with the courts, district attorney, parole and probation departments to ensure that a high level of law enforcement services is maintained.
To promote community based policing, the City's Public Safety staff works with residents, businesses and property owners to maintain the attractiveness, health and safety of the community. Parking Control services focus on enforcing local regulations concerning street sweeping, parking limits, and overweight and abandoned vehicles. Animal Control unit provides regular patrol services, animal licensing, investigations, and shelter services.
