The Positive Alternatives program is a five-week program consisting of gang and drug education for students in second, fifth and seventh grades. The primary intent of the program is to prevent children from participating in delinquent behaviors.
The Positive Alternatives instructor is a civilian Public Safety Officer who serves as a positive role model for the children. In addition to teaching gang and drug awareness, Public Safety Officers help instill self-esteem, positive decision making skills, and conflict resolution techniques to the students.
