The Public Safety Team is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of programs and services designed to protect life and property and preserve the health, safety and quality of the community. The Public Safety Team provides police protection, crime prevention and community education programs, parking enforcement, juvenile intervention efforts, animal control, and probation services. Public Safety also oversees operations of the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station located behind La Mirada City Hall and the Public Safety Annex on Alondra Boulevard and Phoebe Avenue.
The Public Safety Department works closely with contracting agencies such as the District Attorney’s Office, the LA County Sheriff’s and Fire Departments, and the LA County Departments of Animal Control and Probation. In addition, Public Safety is responsible for emergency preparedness and the coordination and planning of community-wide response to natural and man-made disasters.
