STORM
DRAINS ARE FOR RAIN!
Storm water pollution is everyone's business! Storm water pollution
is untreated contaminated water that drains from the streets of La Mirada through
the municipal storm drain system into the ocean. The largest source of
storm water pollution in La Mirada is the general public. The most common pollutants
found in the drain are trash such as fast food wrappers, cigarette butts and
styrofoam cups; and toxins such as used motor oil, antifreeze, fertilizer, pesticides
and pet droppings.

AUTOMATED
REFUSE AND RECYCLING
La Mirada Recycles
is a comprehensive program that makes it easy for residents to recycle everything
from household trash to motor oil.
La Miradas residential automated refuse program is fully operational.
The City is on its way towards meeting state mandated goals for recycling and
avoiding financial penalties.
Residents are reminded that the trash containers are only
allowed by the curb the evening before and the day of the scheduled pickup.
Additionally, containers should be stored outside of public view in order for
a resident to be in compliance with the La Mirada Municipal Code.
If you need to exchange your current green waste or recycling
containers for the smaller 64 gallon models, or would like to request additional
containers, contact Consolidated Services. Additionally, Consolidated Services
continues to offer free bulky item pickup at the request of residents when 24
hour advance notice is given before your regular collection day. If you are
interested in having an item picked up or would like to exchange your containers
for smaller ones, call Consolidated Services Customer Service Center at (562)
946-6441.
If you have any questions regarding the new system, call
the Citys Recycling Coordinator at (562) 943-0131 or see Recycle
Guide for complete information.
