FAQ's Street Sweeping
Is parking restriction enforced on street sweeping
days when its raining?
Every effort is made to sweep the streets, even when it rains. Vehicles are
still subject to citation regardless of the weather conditions.
Can I sweep leaves and grass into the street for
the street sweeper to clean up?
No, you must place this waste in your green barrel. The street sweeper is not
designed to remove piles of leaves and debris, and therefore will bypass them.
Remember everything that gets thrown in the street goes down the storm drain,
which leads directly to the ocean.
How do I obtain a parking permit for my vehicle
on street sweeping days?
Contact Public Safety at (562) 902-2960.
FAQ's Trash Collection
Who do I call if my trash barrels are not emptied?
Contact the City's trash hauler Consolidated Disposal at (562) 663-3400.
Can I dispose of my old television and computer?
Electronics are now banned from California landfills. However, you may take
your electronic equipment to a free Household Hazardous Waste Roundup. They
are held every Saturday and open to all LA County residents. Call (888) CLEAN-LA
or go to their website at www.888CleanLA.com for the closest location.
When trash is delayed one day due to a holiday, my trash collection
and street sweeping end up on the same day. How do I handle this?
During these times we request that trash barrels be placed up on the curb as
not to hinder the street sweeper. Be sure there are no cars parked in front
of the containers.
What do I do when I have large bulky items that
will not fit in my barrel?
Contact Consolidated Disposal at (562) 663-4300 at least one business day prior
day to your regular service day to schedule a bulky item pick up. Consolidated
Disposal hours of operation are between 8:00 a.m. and
5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
What items go in each of my three colored trash barrels?
Blue container - recyclables only
Green container - yard waste only
Black container - non-recyclable
refuse only
If you'd like a detailed list of the accepted items you may contact Consolidated
Disposal at (562) 663-3400.
How do I get another trash, recycling or green waste barrel?
If you would like additional containers contact Consolidated Disposal at (562)
663-3400 to request them. There is no charge for an additional blue recycling
container, but there is a small fee for the black trash container. If your containers
need to be repaired or replaced contact Consolidated Disposal. Containers will
be replaced at no charge unless damaged by neglect or abuse. If you believe
your barrels have been stolen, first check around your neighborhood to see if
they were misplaced. If no, then call Public Safety at (562) 902-2960 to report
the barrels stolen and an incident number will be given to you. Contact Consolidated
Disposal at (562) 663-3400 and give them the incident number. The containers
will be replaced at no charge.
