La Mirada Transit makes traveling in La Mirada easier than ever!
Curb-to-curb transportation service is provided in La Mirada through a contract with Norwalk Transit. Clean, comfortable vehicles provide residents with curb-to-curb service in the community and offer convenient connections to other transit systems. Patrons enjoy easy access to surrounding communities, as well as direct connections to regional rail service via Metrolink and Metro Green Line. Rides to work, medical appointments, shopping, school, recreation, and other locations are available. Transfers to MTA, OCTA, Norwalk and Montebello Transit are available from the driver.

Scheduling:  La Mirada Transit offers three types of service:

Cost:  Full fare is $1 and a discount fare of $.50 is available for seniors, disabled, Medicare card holders, and children under five for a one-way trip.

Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday:   6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday:    9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Transit Discount Fare Passes
The City of La Mirada will now be selling La Mirada Transit discount fare passes ($5.00) and regular fare passes ($10.00) at the following facilities: Resource Center, Activity Center and Gymnasium in addition to Transit Vehicles. The La Mirada Transit regular fare is $1 and the discount fare is $.50 for seniors 62 years or older, disabled, Medicare cardholders, and children under five (proof of age/identification not necessary at time of sale of discount pass). Both the regular fare pass and discount fare pass are valid for 10 one-way trips. The pass is non-refundable.

Transit Expands Service
Norwalk Transit, under contract by the City of La Mirada, offers service to the Westridge mall located at the southeast corner of Beach Blvd. and Imperial Highway in the City of La Habra. This service offers additional shopping opportunities at stores located outside of La Mirada. Pick up and drop off locations are available at the following stores; Kohl’s, Lowes, Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club. City Council Approves Transit Plan
Transit services available to La Mirada residents have been enhanced under a plan approved by the City Council. The local transportation service and expanded access to regional transportation services.  Norwalk Transit, an established regional transportation system run by the City of Norwalk, operates La Mirada Transit's buses.  In addition, Norwalk operates regional fixed-route bus service along major routes such as Imperial Highway and Rosecrans Avenue.  Weekday fixed-route service operates between 5:20 a.m. and 10 p.m.  Weekend service is provided between 6:30 a.m. and 9:50 p.m.  La Mirada Transit service operates from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
La Mirada patrons enjoy easy connections to the entire regional rail service via the Metrolink Commuter Rail Station on Imperial Highway and the Metro Green Line Studebaker Station.

Regional transportation services offered by the Norwalk Transit system offer convenient access to locations such as Cerritos College, Rio Hondo College, Cerritos Town Center, Los Cerritos Center, Norwalk Town Square and the shopping areas near Beach Boulevard and Imperial Highway in La Habra.
Transit patrons can obtain assistance in planning their rides to destinations throughout the Los Angeles basin by calling (562) 929-5550 or visiting the transit office at 12650 E. Imperial Highway.  Customer service hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Medical transportation service offered by La Mirada Transit to locations one-mile outside of the community is available.  Also, simplified access to Coast Doctor’s Hospital in Norwalk has been added.
Expanded service is one benefit to the new transit agreement.  This program also helps to hold down operating costs by improving efficiency of the bus system.
Total annual cost of the contract with the City of Norwalk for transportation services is $917,636.  City officials anticipate that, as La Mirada begins offering a broader array of transit services under the new contract arrangement, it will be eligible for additional funding from outside sources.

Transportation Assistance for Disabled Persons

Access Services
This paratransit transportation assistance is offered under provisions of the program Americans with Disabilities Act. Provides curb-to-curb for disabled persons unable to use public fixed route transportation systems. Fares based on distance, ranging from $1.80 to $2.70 each way.
