Coronavirus and Preventive Measures to Stay Healthy
The City of La Mirada is closely monitoring information and guidance relating to COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control, State of California, and County Department of Public Health. As the number of positive COVID-19 cases rises, health agencies urge the continued practice of key preventive measures to reduce the spread.
The Coronavirus is a large family of viruses. Most people who become infected will have mild or moderate symptoms and recover. However, for some, including the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, the virus can cause more severe illness.
It has been found that the best preventive measures against COVID-19 are to wash hands well and frequently, or clean them with a 60% alcohol-based sanitizer, if soap isn’t available; practice social distancing of 6 feet; and stay at home to limit contact with others.
The City of La Mirada encourages the community to work together to limit the spread of the virus and follow the orders of public health agencies.
