May is Older Americans Month, a nationwide observance that honors the contributions of older adults and raises awareness about aging.  Older Americans Month has been celebrated annually since 1963. The month also focuses on supporting older Americans by highlighting aging trends and reaffirming commitment to community service for older adults.

Each May, Los Angeles County and the City of La Mirada observe Older Americans Month - a time to celebrate the contributions of older adults, raise awareness about aging issues, and strengthen our commitment to inclusion and respect for all generations.   The City of La Mirada hosts a variety of special activities and workshops specifically designed for and celebrating older adults.
