VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION (VIA)
VIA is a program designed for adults ages 18 and over, who want to give back to their community and help sustain the City's essential programs. There are various department divisions offering volunteer opportunities:
- Community Services Department
- Activity Center: SeniorTech, Volunteer Instructors
- Gym: Youth Sports Coaches
- Resource Center: Facility Assistants, Participant Assistants/Aides, Volunteer instructors
- Public Safety Department
- C.E.R.T.
- HAM Watch
- La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts
- Usher
- Historian
To apply, complete a volunteer application online, including any supplemental questionnaire. Follow the same instructions in utilizing the online portal found in the main Employment Opportunities page. VIA applications are reviewed in Human Resources and successful volunteers are subject to livescan/fingerprinting.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Volunteers ages 13 and over can assist with a variety of special events throughout the year. These are one-off volunteer opportunities assisting in a community event alongside our Community Services staff. Special Events application is required for participation. Additional parental consent required for youth participants.
