Construction Ended: Fall 2025
Funding Source: General Fund
Budget: $3,150,000
Background: The City Hall Fountain was constructed with City Hall in 1970. Some renovations to the pools were completed in the late 1990s. The fountain water feature consisted of three pools. In 2017, the City Hall fountain was shut off due to safety concerns, excessive water loss and power usage. Staff discovered that water leaked from the pools through the plumbing system and cracks in the pool surface. The electrical system was also damaged. Both systems were beyond their normal life expectancy and required renovations.
Work
The project included demolition of existing raised planter boxes, fountain equipment, electrical equipment portions of the existing fountain pool concrete slab and bricks hardscape and railing adjacent to the City Hall cantilever walkway. The project also included installation of a waterfall, geysers, pumps, filtration system, electrical system, lighting, light control systems, and irrigation equipment. The upper pool portion of the project included construction of a paved gathering area, overhead and ground level lights, a perimeter glass barrier, and hardscape drainage. The existing pool located to the south was converted into a planter with irrigation, drainage, and new plant material to match the existing aesthetic of the Civic Center Plaza.
Project Area
The project was located at City Hall, 13700 La Mirada Boulevard.
