Background: Asphalt concrete pavement used for roadways and parking lots is one of the City’s largest assets.  Regular pavement maintenance is required in order to achieve the full, useful life of the pavement.  Slurry sealing the pavement is an effective preventive maintenance strategy.  The slurry seal coating provides a protective layer and wearing course for the original pavement structure.

Slurry seal is typically applied every seven years.  The City has been divided into seven slurry seal areas.  Area 2 is due for this preventative maintenance procedure.

Work

This project included crack seal, application of slurry seal, and replacement of pavement legends and striping.

Project Area

The project area, Area 2, is bounded generally by Telegraph Road, Leffingwell Road, Stamy Road, Lemon Drive, Santa Gertrudes Avenue, Foster Road, La Mirada Boulevard and Imperial Highway.  The portion of this area covered by the Residential Street Rehabilitation Project, Phase 6A is not included in this project.
