Home MenuNeighborhood Slurry Seal Area 5
Construction Ended: Spring 2025
Funding Source: Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA)
Budget: $1,200,000
Background: Asphalt concrete pavement used for roadways and parking lots is one of the City’s largest assets. Regular pavement maintenance is required in order to achieve the full, useful life of the pavement. Slurry sealing the pavement is an effective preventive maintenance strategy. The slurry seal coating provides a protective layer and wearing course for the original pavement structure.
Slurry seal is typically applied every seven years. The City has been divided into seven slurry seal areas. Area 5 was due for this preventative maintenance procedure.
Work
This project included crack seal, application of slurry seal, and replacement of pavement legends and striping.
Project Area
The project area, Area 5, included the neighborhood and collector streets bounded by Imperial Highway, east City limits, Rosecrans Avenue, and Santa Gertrudes Avenue. Imperial Highway, Rosecrans Avenue, Santa Gertrudes Avenue, and Hillsborough Drive was not included. Also not included were streets within the neighborhood north of and adjacent to Alicante Road. The streets within this neighborhood were recently slurry sealed as part of a utility upgrade project.
