Budget: $600,000

Background: Asphalt concrete pavement used for roadways and parking lots is one of the City’s largest assets.  Regular pavement maintenance is required in order to achieve the full, useful life of the pavement.  Slurry sealing the pavement is an effective preventive maintenance strategy.  The slurry seal coating provides a protective layer and wearing course for the original pavement structure.

Slurry seal is typically applied every seven years.  The City has been divided into seven slurry seal areas.  Area 3 was due for this preventative maintenance procedure.

Work

This project included crack seal, application of slurry seal, PCC repairs at the driveway located at 14691 Industry Circle, replacement of pavement legends and striping.

Project Area

The project area, Area 3, included the neighborhood and industrial areas bounded generally by Stage Road, Alondra Boulevard, Ocaso Avenue, Desman Road, Knott Avenue, Artesia Boulevard and Valley View Avenue.  Stage Road, Alondra Boulevard, Knott Avenue, Firestone Boulevard North, Firestone Boulevard South, Artesia Boulevard and Valley View Avenue were not part of the project.  The alley east of La Pomelo Road was included as part of the project.
